Spirulina is one of the most profound anti-oxidants available to us. Spirulina can be eaten in many different ways. There are many creative ideas online for recipes. It can also be taken as a supplement. Some people prefer this because they don't like the taste. This is personal preference.
In my last post I said that spirulina can be made from a recipe which is true.
However, the purest form of Spirulina comes from nature. In nature Spirulina comes from waters with minerals where no other plants can survive.
Spirulina thrives in alkaline waters. The alkalinity of the water is caused by high mineral content. Under the proper conditions algae grows. These cultures can be cultivated and multiplied in a system to create large volumes of algae.
Spirulina is rich in raw proteins and seven major vitamins. Not only does it contain eight major amino acid, but it is also one of the most profound anti-oxidants available. Spirulina is 5 times easier to digest than meat or soy protein.
Spirulina's most profound benefit is that it improves immune functions. That is why Spirulina should be fed to fish. Scientist have found that Spirulina not only stimulates the immune system, but actually enhances the ability to generate new blood cells.
Aquaponics is not new many farmers all over the world have been using this concept successfully for sometime. Aquaponics is a form of soil-less gardening in which the waste produced by farmed fish supplies nutrients for plans to grown hydroponically.
On its own Aquaponics can be a more productive ways to grow fruits and vegetables but when fed by Spirulina the grow capacity will increase immensely.
Food grown on the colony would be produced only to feed the members.
Farmed Spirulina would be the only exportable products. It can be sold in tablet and powder form and also fish food. Because the product is dry, can be well packaged and has a long shelf life, out of all the resources the colony would produce Spirulina is the easiest product to export and has the most potential to make a profit.
The colony will be located on an Island, for several reasons. One being the importance of privacy laws, which I have taken from the Hutterites colony model. Also because the products the colony will farm all need water for production.
Each home will have a small area for cooking and eating, a breakfast area. But there will be a main eating hall for daily lunches and dinners that colony members would eat their meals. This has several benefits mostly community related.
In the book I wrote, I kept a lot of the traditions that the Hutterites did. Woman looked after the domestic roles in the colony and men tended to business. If memory serves me right, in Hutterite culture all the business men are also Ordained Priests. Females are teachers, cooks and they make the colony members clothing.
Hutterites have been following these traditions for centuries. These colony members were born into this life. These traditions are the only roles these people now.
Although this is a Christian colony, this is a new idea and some of these traditions are not applicable. For instance what if a women colony member were a chemist. The colony would need her to use her skills as best she could. For these reasons the colony model would have tobe more flexible for it's members.
